NON NOBIS DOMINE, SED NOMINI TUO DA GLORIAM!
(Not to us, Lord, but to your name be all glory!) -Ps 113, 9Over the last 170 years, Old St. Mary’s has maintained a reputation for distinguished choral singing. And for generations, it has been “de rigueur” for our choir to perform orchestral Masses for the Solemnities of Christmas and Easter.
Our glorious church provides worshipers with a place of refuge from the City– an escape from the cacophony of every day life. Old St. Mary’s is a home for true lovers of the Liturgy and her beloved handmaid, music. In the Mass, one encounters a bit of “Heaven on Earth.” And leading the congregation into a “sober intoxication of the Faith” is the task of Old St. Mary’s choir. Our choirmaster and organist meticulously executes this responsibility, giving one an appreciation of the sacred.
