I visited your church on December 12 in 1942, the day of my Baptism! My grandfather, Joseph W Brady, whose bother James Brady fouinded the Goodfellow organization and whose statute is on Belle Isle, took me for a visit to the church around 1944. While kneeling in front of the altar under the crucifix, my gandpa asked me to ask Jesus "if He loves Joe Brady?" I asked Him! Then grandpa asked me, "Well, what did He say? I said..."NO!" Being Irish and feeling guilty for his faults, my grandfather NERVER got over that visit to Old St Mary's. In 2003, I hoped to visit the church but it was already closed. Therefore we made a visit to the casino!! ;;)

Thank you for posting the photo of the first St. Mary's Church. My Great great grandparents, Joseph Anderhalt and Rosina Bernard were members first of St. Anne's then St. Marys with all of their children being baptised and married in the two churches. The first child being baptised at St. Mary by Rev. Kundig on 18 July 1837. Are there any other old photos of the inside of the church you could post?

Every Easter weekend we make a trip downtown to see the beautiful flowers for Easter at the alter. What a peaceful feeling you get when you enter the church and sit in the pews and look around. The Lord is really making his presence known. Praise God! 8-|

My daughter and future son-in-law are members of OSM, and I am so proud of them that they chose this church to be the base of their marriage. I know that this is the BEST start they could possible have for their future life together. I join them whenever I can, and I actually brought my children here when they were young to experience the peace and awe of God's gift in OSM 6(^)6

I got to mass quite early yesterday evening, before lights were on and only a couple people in the pews. It was quiet and candle lit. I have never felt so at peace or in the Lord's presence as I did yesterday at that time. This is why I know this is my church. Yes, it's a beautiful work of art and pretty to see. But there's also a sense of peace that overcomes you here that cannot be explained in words or pictures.

6(^)6 Viewing your website certainly brought back memories of attending St. Mary's Commercial School. Class of 1966. I'm still awed with the beauty of the cathedral. Bless you for preaching the word of Our Lord.

Thank you for all you do. I've been going to Old St. Mary's since I was a child. The loving way the church is decorated at Christmas and Easter brings a great sense of joy and celebration.

My prayers of thankfulness and deep gratitude are with you. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Great website! I remember when I first visited here in June 2005 during the Greektown Art Festival, which ultimately led to me going through the RCIA class in '05-'06 with Fr. Dominic and becoming a member in 2007. I enjoy coming to church here every week (Saturday night in the summer, Sunday in the winter)

Looking at your web page brought back fond memories of attending Old Saint

Mary's school and morning mass!

It was a wonderful time in my life and of course all the masses were in Latin - simply

awesome!

My favorite memory was the Easter Mass - the Stations of the Cross - so beautiful.

Blessings abound toward the wonderful things Old Saint Mary's is doing to proclaim the

Gospel of our Lord!

"Perhaps there is no more beautiful example of confidence in God than that of Mary - God's living tabernacle - with St. Joseph, seeking an abode wherein to give us salvation. Learn to know Mary, that you may love heaven and heavenly things."
